During a recent event in Bengaluru, Vidya Balan had the audience in stitches with her humorous stories. She mentioned her increasing involvement in comedy on social media and how people appreciated her work even during her break. She expressed her love for comedy and her eagerness to take on comedic roles in films. However, she noted the scarcity of such roles for actresses in recent times.

In the session, Vidya discussed her passion for acting, stating that it allows her to inhabit diverse female characters and experience various lives authentically through the duration of a film. She emphasized her curiosity about people and how acting fulfills her desire for excitement by embodying different stories.

Vidya also highlighted her enthusiasm for the preparation involved in portraying each character, where she delves deep into their motivations, feelings, and vulnerabilities. Additionally, she addressed the societal pressure of body image, emphasizing that self-worth should not be tied to body size.

Body image has always been a struggle for me since I was a heavier girl while growing up. However, watching The Dirty Picture helped me realize that one's body size does not determine self-worth. This realization was freeing, changing not only my perception as an actor but also as an individual. It made me appreciate and value the body that keeps me alive.

My sister, Priya, serves as a great role model for me. She exudes confidence, comfort in her own skin, and has always been someone I can trust and confide in.

Vidya Balan says that women, who are consistently juggling different roles in their lives, make great actors. Women often transition between various roles such as mother, sister, wife, and more on a daily basis. This allows them to easily delve into different aspects of their own personalities as actors and portray the story the director envisions.

It is said that movies draw inspiration from real-life events rather than the other way around. Javed Akhtar once mentioned that society often blames films for influencing behavior, whereas in reality, films are influenced by what occurs in real life. Cinema is sometimes tasked with being the moral compass of society, but in reality, only a small fraction of the population watches the most popular films, highlighting the limited impact of movies on society as a whole.
